For those who want to take their fitness to the next level, our approach to mountain bike training is built on balance: Strength + Technique + Recovery.
🚵 MTB: Explosiveness
Speed in the woods is dictated by control. Our focus for off-road riders:
- ✅ Climbing intervals: Simulating steep sections.
- ✅ Technical drills: Riding in the Bike Park.
- ✅ Anaerobic capacity: Short sprints.
🚴♀️ Road & Endurance
Every rider's foundation is the "aerobic base". Endurance is built smartly:
- ✅ FTP testing: Precisely defining your zones.
- ✅ Sweet Spot: Training for the fastest progress.
- ✅ Cadence: Pedaling efficiency.
🌍 Zwift & Indoor
Winter is no reason to take a break. Zwift training on the Zwift platform allows precise work.
- ✅ Structured workouts: No traffic lights.
- ✅ ERG mode: A smart trainer holds your watts.
- ✅ E-Racing: Competitive spirit from your living room.
📊 Analytics & Bike Fit
You can't fix what you don't measure. The integrity of our training lies in data.
- ✅ Strava/Garmin: Heart rate analysis.
- ✅ Biomechanics: Bad position = injury.
- ✅ TrainingPeaks: Planning your form.
Understanding Training Zones (Where Does the Magic Happen?)
Many beginners go wrong by riding "always at the same pace" – too fast to recover, too slow to improve. A properly structured training process means working in different zones:
- Zone 1 (Recovery): Easy spinning where you can talk without gasping. Key for the day after a hard ride.
- Zone 2 (Endurance/Base): The foundation of everything. Long rides at a moderate pace that teach your body to burn fat as fuel. This should make up 80% of your time on the bike.
- Zone 3 (Tempo/Sweet Spot): "Comfortably hard". The place where you build the ability to endure effort for longer.
- Zone 4 (Lactate Threshold): The red line. A pace you can hold for about an hour, but with serious pain in your legs.
- Zone 5 (VO2 Max): Maximum effort for 3 to 5 minutes. This is where you build your "lungs" and the ability to handle short, steep climbs.
Without a clear plan, it's easy to fall into the trap of overtraining. Our goal is for every ride to have a purpose, and a good cycling coach will make sure it does.
💡 PRO TIP: Mechanical Doping
The best plan goes down the drain if your machine lets you down halfway up the hill. A poorly adjusted derailleur or a dry chain can "steal" up to 15 watts of power. Before you start a serious training block, be sure to book a Full Service.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
❓ From what age can a child join the cycling school?
In our cycling school we enroll children from as young as 4 (for training without training wheels), while the Junior Academy usually starts at 7. Safety is always the priority.
❓ How often should a recreational rider do mountain bike training?
For noticeable progress, 3 to 4 times a week is the gold standard. The key isn't just the number of sessions, but consistency.
❓ Do I need a power meter?
A power meter is a great tool, but it isn't essential to get started. A heart rate monitor (HR strap) is a much cheaper option for tracking intensity.
